CourseAdvisor was founded in 2004 as an analytics-based performance marketing company serving the higher education market. Under Adverplex incubation, their flagship web site, grew quickly to become one of the top education sites in the country according to Quantcast, with over 3.3 million unique visitors per month.

In 2007, CourseAdvisor was acquired by the Washington Post Company, becoming a wholly owned subsidiary of the Company. After acquisition, the CourseAdvisor team went on to launch numerous additional sites including the WashingtonPost Education web site and In 2009, CourseAdvisor was reformed as Avenue100 Media Solutions to serve as a holding company for the numerous sites that the team manages.
